Working on my Own Book

In my quest to learn about becoming self-sufficient and various other interests, I was finding it hard to get all the information I wanted in one place.

I wanted to know how to build a solar oven, solar water heater, the best planting techniques. How to live off the land. The best way to dry foods, smoke them, preserve them. Seed saving. Storage. I wanted to know all about energy choices and generators. Plus natural medicine. Survival techniques in case of natural disasters. First-aid.

I do have several books on many subjects but I wanted something organized with an index at my fingertips. I have visited several forums and blogs that have better information than some of my books. These bits of information are from people who have been there and done that. Several of them gave really cool hints and great advice. So I started gathering all the information I wanted and printed it out. I’m almost finished. But now the hard work is ahead. Sorting and indexing. Then turning it into a book just for me. :)

It’s hard not to write….

I have so many things going on right now. Summer is always busier for work as well. I’ve not been making jewelry, I have several things around the house that need to be done. I am feeling a bit over-whelmed.

I sign into my blog about beads and have nothing to post. Though I have many things I’d like to say. But I don’t want my life to be an open book. I meet so many interesting people from all around the world and many of them have taken the time to tell me about their country. Things I never knew. Sometimes things I wish I never knew.

Then there are times that I would like to write about things but it might infringe on someone else’s privacy. Sometimes the hardest thing for me to do is not to write. I had the most emotional but inspiring week-end and cannot write about it because it might upset some people and it is not my place to write about something so personal to them.

This month alone could have been filled with dozens of posts that I started and then decided not to do so. Does anyone else find themselves in the same position? Maybe I just need a blog break :)

I Added A New Link

Under my “I have other interests too” you will find Just Get There.

Here is a little quip from the site to let you know what it is about:

“Just Get There is poised to become one of a very few sites of its kind, and we are looking for people who want to join us as we build it into the best site on the net for activism info, resources, and networking. Right now, we’re looking for a few quality authors to contribute articles on a regular basis. We are looking to recruit writers from all across the political and ideological spectrum, so if this sounds good to you, drop us a line.”

A Debate Among Friends

Feminism Today.

I’m a constant reader of Will Rhodes blog and had noticed the word feminism brought up in some articles he wrote. Just kind of added into something he wrote about. (Don’t be mad, Will) And I thought this guy is trying to push some buttons. It’s just that it was something I rarely thought about. And I probably have a much different view of it than some people. But then again, I’ve never been accused of being normal anyway :)

So I mentioned that he should maybe write a post about it. For one, he just writes better and two I really am curious what everyone thinks about it. Three, there was no way I wanted to get bombarded with hate mail LMAO! Ah, we women can be such wenches!

My take is on developed Western Countries. I do realize that in other parts of the world there is a huge change needed. I do not take it lightly at all. But my interest is in how we are personally effected by it. I tend to pick and choose my causes, and with everything going on in this world, there are millions of them to pick from. Feminism just wasn’t one of them, but I am thankful it is for others! What is your take? What is your experience and how do you deal with it? Does it even matter to you? For the men, don’t you think you are treated unfairly as well? At work? At home? Don’t you think things are expected from you because you are a man?

So I am going to ask a few people to rise to the challenge.

Here is where you can find Will’s post. LINK

And some people I’d love to give their views: (of course everyone on my blogroll and links)

Not one for keeping things the same. I’m going to be making changes with my site again. And I’m not letting the cat out of the bag just yet. You’ll have to come back and see for yourself LOL!
