Hillary Is Not Giving Up

I was over at What Really Happened (where you go for REAL news) and came across this headline:

Breaking: Eight Supers Switching to Hillary.

Is this for real? She is going to be back on the ballot?

Then I read another article. It is about the Clinton’s and GMO food. It really struck a nerve with me. Not a good one either. For anyone who is even considering voting for Hillary, read this article first.

“Open Letter to Hillary Clinton” Uncovers the Politics of GMOs

Who Needs Chips When You Can Have This…

I finally found a substitute to conquer my craving for a bag of chips! I know how bad they are for me. Just knowing I couldn’t have them only made me want them more. Not wanting to fall back into my old eating habit, I vowed to find something to replace it.

Having tried several healthy but awful tasting alternatives, I found this recipe at Local Forage.

It’s Kale Chips. Many people find Kale bitter but I like it. And it is a wonder food! My Goodness, just look at the health benefits.

I added a dash of cayenne to mine to spice them up, it helps to add some flavor if you find it bitter. Next time I think I’ll try some dill. I imagine you could add more vinegar if you like salt and vinegar chips.

Keep a good eye on them, you don’t want to over cook them. I had to move them around on the tray to make sure they cooked evenly. They are so light and airy! I could see crumbling them on just about any meal to add a bunch of flavor. (I also pulled the leaf part off the whole stem, from bottom to top, after reading at other sites that it was too chewy)

Don’t make a lot, they don’t store well. The ones I had leftover were soft this morning.

This recipe uses parm.cheese AND it states you can store it for a week or two. Maybe I didn’t have the right container!

They don’t look pretty, but here is a photo of how mine turned out.

My husband even liked them! :)

Who Doesn’t Love a Foot Massage?

You’ve got to admit having a foot massage feels great. But, did you know it might also have health benefits?

Check out this handy chart. Click on your problem from the list and it will show you where the pressure points can be found.

Now you have another excuse to get your other half to rub your tootsies. :)

I am not a doctor. I do not suggest this to be a cure or for you to use this in place of medical advice. If you have a problem, see your medical doctor right away.

Yeast?

If you read my previous post about my detox/cleanse and clicked the link you may have been as surprised as I was to find out that yeast can play a big role in digestive problems.

I got to thinking maybe that was why, even if I ate one slice of bread, my stomach bloated. I was adding yeast to what already might be a problem. I love food. Good food. We’ve always cooked our own meals, rarely eat anything packaged or canned. I buy mostly organic meats and other foods.

But like most people I have my indulgences. One of them being potato chips. Another salt, I thought sea-salt was good, but I found out they are not all created equal. (that’s for another post) and coffee. I figured since I don’t need to lose weight, I could eat as much as I want. Little did I know, many choices I made weren’t very good for my insides. I have been stressing my organs.

I have been following a low-carb, no yeast regimen for a while now. With great results. Many foods I thought were bothering me, was really something else I was eating with it. I have eliminated foods out of my diet, and right now am down to strictly eating veggies, drinking water and freshly squeezed lemon juice. I will start adding foods back into my diet, and keeping track of how it affects me.

I already know to avoid breads. Although sourdough may be fine. I haven’t tried it yet. Dairy products are a no go. Good-bye my beloved cheese. Goat cheese doesn’t seem to bother me. But I may be surprised now when I try it. I never thought coffee was bothering me until I cut it out and added it. It wasn’t pleasant. The acid in my gut was turning!

The thought of not eating all this good stuff is freaking me out a bit. We love our food! And some of the recipes I’ve tried, well….can you say bland? I’ll be revising many of them. Which might be fun. So this is kind of going to become my health diary for a while.

I’ll add one or more bits of information on new things I am using and their health benefits as well. Any links I provide, I will also add to my Alternative Health and Medicine link at my Randomness site.

Today’s new item starts with the letter C. The Coconut.

Just check out this list of health benefits. I don’t know if they are factual, or if they have all been tested. But this is what the word on the street is. As, always, if you are ailing, go see a doctor because I am not one.

This site offers a full list of benefits.
