The Trojan Horse.

Just got in after a busy week-end. Mom and daughters get-together. Got out the sleeping bags, movies, ordered dinner and stuffed our faces full of every junk food we could get our hands on. Nice time had by all. I’m tired though  :)

But I wanted to quickly come on to let everyone know that Paul Gross (there is NOTHING gross about Paul!) is starring in “The Trojan Horse” tonight.

Here is a quip from the site:

“Set in modern day North America, McLaughlin watches as a majority of Canadians vote to join the United States of America. The Canadian flag comes down and the country is redrawn into six states. Backed by three powerful European intelligence agencies, McLaughlin runs as an independent for president of the newly formed United States with his ex-wife, Texas Governor Mary Miller (Martha Burns) as his running mate.

Veteran British journalist Helen Madigan (Greta Scacchi) uncovers a shocking plot to undermine democracy in the U.S. Believing McLaughlin is an honest broker, she looks to him to expose the corruption in the current administration but instead, discovers a diabolical scheme that will unravel families and nations.”

The Sunday Report on the World.

Another Sunday. Another Report. I chose Sunday as a day that I write about things other than beads because many people have spent the day in their chosen Church. After a day of being reminded of just how we are supposed to live our life maybe more people would take pause and REALLY think about what is happening in the world.

Often times, I wonder why so many people go on about the day without questioning their religious, local and global leaders why they remain silent on so many issues. It’s hard to imagine that we don’t care. We have to care right? Can it be true that there are so  many people who don’t? This world is filled with Churches of every stripe, add to that the millions of people who claim to be spiritual, who believe in Karma, people who read Edgar Cayce, Edmund Harold, people who believe in a higher power. All these things will tell you one common thing. Do no harm. Help your brother.

The media or rather “journalists” (save a few that actually have a spine) no longer do their job. They are but “talking heads.” Calling them journalists would be an insult to the men and women who actually report the truth.

Our politicians are not interested in telling the truth. It’s not good for business. So how do they continue to do this. Because the public doesn’t call them on it. We sit on our furniture, shake our heads and then do nothing. It’s as simple as this. They do it because they they can. Because we don’t write the advertisers and threaten to never buy their product, we don’t write or call the media and ask why they spout lies, biased reports, or check the accuracy of what they are saying.

They do it because they can. Because WE remain silent.

People are dying all over the world in the name of some religion or another. But it has nothing to do with religion or belief. We allow our faith to be smeared, to be labelled, to be trashed in the name of greed and power. They use religion because they cannot tell us why they do it. We wouldn’t stand for it. The sad thing is we DO know why.

I tried to stay away from politics this week because I get so upset. I can take it in doses and then have to walk away for a few days. Everyday there is something new and it never seems to be good news.

I know it’s hard because many of us struggle just to get through the day with our families, work and life. It’s hard because the economy is in shambles and we struggle to keep afloat. There is so little time for us and what time we do have we’d like to spend it doing something enjoyable, because our lives are already stressful.

Just a thought here: If things continue the way they are, do you really think our lives will get any easier? I have a feeling the answer is no. For our own sake, we have to take that one step. Take the half hour and write that letter, or make that phone call. If every person did that, even once, imagine the impact we could make. You can make a difference.

Ask your religious leader why the head of your organization doesn’t speak out. Ask your local paper, local news, local politician. Or go higher up the ladder. Choose one. Just one. And don’t give up until you get an answer.

To those who are active in these issues and say, but no one wants to hear it. I was one of those people. It wasn’t that I didn’t care. I didn’t follow it. I never looked deeper into it. I believed everything in the media. One person changed all that by taking the time to ask me about a few things, and I was stunned. I shook my head and thought they were lying. So, of course, I educated myself. They weren’t lying. I was ignorant about the truth. I didn’t know that there was actually a court ruling that says the media does not have to report the truth either. Propaganda rules today.

There is no one person who is going to waltz in and make things better. There is no hero to save the day. There is a choice. We can continue to put up with it, or we can suffer the consequences of keeping silent.

So, on that note, here are a few articles I read this week that I feel are important.

For the longest time I have been preaching about why the western world ignores the decades of abuse on the Palestinian people. It is truly horrific what is happening there. The suffering and humiliation would be more than anyone of us could handle. And before you start calling me names, do your homework. I am not anti this or that. I do not like to see this being done to anyone, of any race, colour or creed. Whether I agree with everything or not in the following article, it did give me pause for thought. We are not the only ones ignoring  this  issue.

This is a must see video by the Lakota Nation in the US about separating from America. I want to hug this guy. He should run for President.

Oh, Clinton and Obama threaten to opt out of NAFTA if it is not renegotiated. PLEASE DO SO. Canada could keep it’s resources.Notice that there are no political parties here jumping up and down over this? You ask why I would be so happy? This  is why. NAFTA does not benefit the Canadian or American public. It benefits big business and big pockets. Meanwhile millions of Canadian and American people struggle to pay their bills, with everything increasing except their paycheck.

It’s time to speak out.

Welcome to United North America.

How does something like this get signed without our consent? Without any input from American and Canadian citizens? And what exactly does the plan entail? Any civil disruption? Are they thinking that people are finally waking up to everything and might actually demand accountability. People want a government that wants what is best for the citizens. I am soooo pissed off right now.

This Conservative Government is the worst thing to ever happen to Canada. Who got to make this decision? I want to know. ”Civil Assistance Plan?” As if! If there was a need in an emergency like what they state, natural disasters or terrorist attack, they would already help out if needed. So why does the Canadian and American Military need to sign an agreement like this? I’d like to read the finer print. Maybe civil protests? Does it cover that? And they mention Marshal Law? WTF???

The future looks a lot less rosy now, doesn’t it? We can all look forward to Marshal Law. Oh, Yay.  I’m sorry, I know I’m a beaded jewelry site but I couldn’t wait for my “Sunday Report” for this.

Maybe I should start beading the new flag? With pretty pictures of our resources being bled dry, our Canadian and US jobs being lost to the 3rd United North American party and the dollar sign falling through a big black crack.

Thanks for bending over Harper, just remember, that is the position you remain in when you play with the big guns.

UPDATE: This was signed on Valentines Day. The Harper Government didn’t even mention it at all. Here is another link to an article at canada.com.

The Sunday Report #4

Will They Bend Over for Harper?

I’m wondering if the Liberal Party will cave regarding Canadian Troops in Afghanistan. If all the talk IS just talk. They want Canada to stay but in a non-combat role. Restructuring and redevelopment. Which sounds wonderful but usually means throwing millions of Canadian tax dollars at programs that fail. That never end up doing any good but lining the pockets of big business and failing to help those in need. When will we ever demand accountability when it comes to things like this? When do we ever see the houses rebuilt? What about the money sent to all the Countries suffering natural disasters over the past few years. We read about all the good we have done. Show me the towns, the rows of new homes? In the end are we going to see resorts, fancy big box stores? I’d wager a bet on that. Just bring our troops home. And for those politicians who want to stay, I say pack your bags, take your family and get over there, I’m sure they could use the extra help. It’s no fun being cannon fodder.

85 Million People With no Internet!

According to BetaNews Middle East Internet outages now affect 85 million users. GASP! Can you imagine? keep hoping nothing bad is going down. Other than that, there are 85 million really pissed off civilians Most people sit back and take it when the government screws them over but take away the internet? They will have nothing to do, which means they will be paying attention to what is really going on. Which is exactly what some people DON’T want. Could we see this one back-firing? It’s obviously not an accident. Time will tell.

Collective Punishment But Does Anyone Even Care?

And still Palestine suffers and nothing is being done. Will this end up being another holocaust that we ignore and talk about generations later? Wondering how it was able to happen and go on for decades. Right under our noses. If only….we might say. Or maybe most people don’t really care? What has this world become?

The Sunday Report #3

It’s my third Sunday Report! If you’re new to my site (because it is already three weeks old (hardly a baby anymore) it’s the day where I allow myself to go off-topic and post about something other than beads. What you say? There is life outside of beads? I assure you there is. Beads are my escape from life. But with so much happening in the world today I feel it is our duty to pay attention to where it is we are heading. Not only for ourselves but for the generations to come. That said hold on here we go.

 SOMEONE READ MY MIND

I had read a few articles over at Will Rhodes site “Oh For The Love of Free Time” and decided I’d probably become a regular reader of his blog. At the top there was a link called “political ethos” Being quite political myself, I was curious at what I might find. When I finished reading it and sat back and said “wow!” He had said EVERYTHING I have ever wanted to, but said it better. (He IS a writer after all) It was like having someone looking inside my head. I don’t want to get started on a political rant here but I do think politics is something more people should participate in on both a local and global level. After all it is your dime and they are supposed to work for you. Not interest groups, corporations and personal greed.

OMGOSH, NO INTERNET!!!

I don’t know if the Main Stream Media is reporting this, as I try to steer clear of fictional stories for the most part, but check this out. NO INTERNET in Iran parts of the Middle East and West Asia. Hmmmm…..let’s all get our blinders on.

MY SUNDAY RANT

If there was one thing I would change in this world, it would be for people to educate themselves about important issues and not rely on the MSM or interest groups that use pressure tactics and instill fear in people who try to correct deliberate attempts to mislead the public into accepting the terrible things that are going on in this world.

That said, I cannot let it pass, that the people of Palestine do not deserve the death toll that is climbing. You can read one account written by a brave Jewish woman here. I expect a backlash from this. I will get that part out of the way, I am NOT an anti-semite, I do not hate any race. What I am is someone who cannot turn a blind eye to human suffering and this has been going on for decades, it deserves our attention, and if it were our own families we would not dare keep quiet about it. Nor would we allow the media to ignore it (and we sure as heck would want to find out WHY it IS being gagged). I will take this quote straight out of that article  “I am sorry if this hurts some of those who feel for the Jewish people and for their difficult history.” But this is happening right now, this very second. What happened to the Jewish people then, shouldn’t have. Just as what is happening NOW shouldn’t be.

Rant over. I could go on but I’ll leave my next awareness wish for next Sunday. I know my views are not very popular. But they are mine, they are genuine and you are free to have yours.

The Sunday Report #2

It’s Sunday, the one day I allow myself to post off-topic and share interesting tidbits. First of all I’ll TRY not to talk politics, because I know how much my family loves it when I do. (I can see you clapping…)

But I do have to post my weekly quote:

“The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse: You cannot post “Thou shalt not steal,” “Thou shalt not commit adultery,” and “Thou shalt not lie” in a building full of lawyers, judges, and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment.” - George Carlin

On a lighter note, I know a few family members who would like this site called The Sacred Path.  Very interesting stuff, check it out.

I was making a necklace for my niece before Christmas, and let her pick out the beads. I have tonnes, and my husband also picks some up if he sees something I might like. So keeping track of my inventory is hard. One of the packages she choose were tiny black cube beads. (With a bunch of large lime coloured ones. She said “I need lime because people notice it, like, it stands out.” She’s growing up much too fast!) Back to the black beads, they ended up being magnetic beads, I had no idea. Ughhhh, what a pain. They kept clinging to each-other and getting in the way of what I was doing. I can laugh about it now, but you should have heard me when I was making it. It was worth it in the end, because she loved it. I made 3 of them for her, and then made a bunch of beaded dangles that clip on the front so she could mix and match.

That’s all for now. Happy Beading

The Sunday Report

I’m going to make Sunday’s a little different. I’ll still post about my beads but add some off-topic stuff as well. Interesting things like the “19-questions-to-be-answered-from-all-over-the-world” over at this site. Check it out. Make sure to read the comments and see just how different (or alike) other Countries are. Don’t forget to fill it out yourself.

I forgot to add that one thing I DO like about my Country is our health care system. As much bad press as it has been getting lately. Don’t let it fool you, that’s just a way to make us go along with certain business’ that would love to change the system. All they see are dollar signs.

I’ve noticed a few more bead sites go up at wordpress this month. No wonder, I love how organized we can be with our posts and categories. There isn’t a better place on the web for people who need an easy way to manage plenty of articles and photo’s. I don’t know anything about making websites!

I’m going to start adding other wordpress beaders to my blog roll. I hope they don’t mind. Whenever I feel uninspired I go on-line and in no time I’m wanting to pick up my beads and work away.

A quote I saw recently: “If you ate today, thank a farmer”

Back to my beads:

The silver pieces on this these necklaces were from one long strand that was given to me by an Aunt. It wrapped around the neck four times and had no beads. They are separate pieces but I wear them together.
