If you ain’t got Firefox - get it, I will write up a tutorial for you if you want and the best add-ons to get.
April 5, 2008 at 3:54 am
Will. I had fire fox once. You think I should go back to it? What do you mean by add-ons?
I warn you now that I am not good with this type of stuff and find it frustrating. So, I’ll take all the help I can get. But you might end up getting frustrated with me…
April 5, 2008 at 3:58 am
Yep, I would get Firefox and then you get the add-ons, or extensions as they are called.
You can access these through the ‘tools’ on the browser.

Will it change anything on my beadden site? because I kinda like everything the way it is there.
April 5, 2008 at 4:02 am
Is there a way I can have your comments approved all the time?
April 5, 2008 at 4:09 am
It shouldn’t change anything at all
The only way I know to approve them all the time is to allow comments. I will have a look around the forums for you to see if there is another way.
I will be out for a bit so I won’t reply for a whe but will be back soon.

Oh my, I don’t know if this was a good day to make changes. I didn’t realize WordPress was also in the mood!
Will, I don’t expect you to help me all in one day or anything.
And thanks.
Hold on……I’m not finished…. You really are going to end up being sorry for this LOL
Ok I changed to fire fox. Just a few questions
Please tell me google doesn’t own it. I made FF my home page and all I see is a great big google search box. I avoid google search engines whenever possible.
AND NOW I think I have a tool bar OMGosh. I flipping cannot stand toolbars.
Holy carp, I think I’m going to have a fit LOL
April 5, 2008 at 5:19 am
I got my old homepage back….so I am no loger staring at google LOL
I took off the tool bar just by clicking view. but are they still spying on me? that’s all a toolbar is right? spyware.
April 5, 2008 at 6:45 am
LOL - No, Google does not own Firefox. They just use that to get people started. The tool bar can be uninstalled, but let’s get to the fun bit.
Now, this is the best part, you can set Firefox to save cookies or destroy them when you close the browser. This is what I do, but I don’t advocate it for those who use sign in cookies a lot, because you will have to resign in each time. Let Firefox save passwards and if you are really paranoid, you can set a master password over those! Brill eh?

The add-ons you need are 1, Adblock - that will kill most adverts on webpages, even flash - but with the flash ones be careful until you know what is what. 2, get BBCode Xtra.
You can download these and install them and just restart Firefox once you have them all installed, you don’t need to restart the computer, just the browser. Then 3, All-in-one gestures - this little baby you can use the mouse to go back pages, forward, all sorts of stuff rather than using the back forward buttons on the browser.
Now ya all ready to go.
April 5, 2008 at 7:12 am
Done… I did it! yay
Hey, I like this red underline reminding me I can’t spell. I even ignored one in my other post for old times sake LOL
Anything else I should do?
And Thank you Again!
April 5, 2008 at 9:25 am
Yep - you get to do the fun part with BBCode!
You should have it as enabled on the drop down box when you right click - you can add quotes and paste as a URL with name without copy & pasting etc.
What I would do if I were you is add a private page to here, and play around with it - it won’t show as long as you keep the page private, and you will be well happy with yourself, too!
Have fun!!
April 6, 2008 at 7:01 am
Are there any other add-ons you think I should get?
I made a private page. So I’ll start playing around with some of the options. Thanks again!
April 7, 2008 at 4:42 am
Which ones do you have now? I think I gave you the ones that work best for me.
AdBlock, BBCode, Mouse Gestures. I am presuming you are on broadband, so the others I use are for dial-up. Hopefully we won’t need those plug-ins soon.
But if you ever want to have a look at the 1000’s of extensions that Firefox has - click on tools, add-ons > then click more extensions and you can view LOADS! LOL
Oh - it is always best to get realplayer extension, too. If you have that installed on your PC it should be picked up automatically.

I hate to admit this but the BBC code thing. I just don’t get it. I tried a bunch of stuff. When I get more time I will read through the instructions or help section. I will download the mouse gestures. Oh and I did get the AdBlock too.
I’m on deadline at work right now, so I’m pretty busy and tired when I get in. Will try to figure it out next week. Hey, can you tell me how you get a word into a link when you do it in the forums (like what did you post that today?) If you don’t mind. Is that a BBC code thing?
Thanks for taking the time to help and I’m really glad I switched to FF. My screen looks clearer for some reason, a bit laggy compared to IE but I am extremely impatient when it comes to speed on my computer, it’s really seconds in difference. I really like the tab thing too.
April 8, 2008 at 9:20 am
OK - to add a word to a URL.
The long way first. Copy and paste the URL into the reply box then highlight it and right click. You should see the BBCode in the drop down go across to BBCode html xtra then down to ‘extra’ go across to URL with name and click that. A box will pop up - add what you want and hit enter or click OK - then it will appear in the reply box around the URL - click post.
The easy way is to use the clipboard. How you do this is:
Copy the URL you want to use then right click in the reply box. Again you will have a drop down go to that BBCode Xtra >Clipboard>URL with name, write what you want and hit enter it will appear in the reply box - hit reply and Bobs ya uncle - hit post and it will be there.

April 13, 2008 at 6:46 am
