Wow. You have some really impressive work. Must take an awful lot of patience a good eyesight too I’m always interested in other people’s hobbies and crafts. Like I say, really impressive and thanks for sharing.
Such beautiful things. I can’t believe you’re “just learning.” Really, really gorgeous. You have really got a knack. Some of the beads you use look antique. Are they?
Well, don’t you have a keen eye? Yes, many of the beads I use are vintage or antique. Most were handed down to me and others I bought. I love things with a history. I think everything made “back when” was just better quality (and I could be wrong in the case of beads). Half my kitchen gadgets are “antique” ,still working, and built to last unlike things manufactured today.
Thanks again for all the compliments. I took up beading a few years ago, Christmas decorations and a few jewelry pieces. Then never touched bothered with it due to an injury from work. My finger tips were numb for over a year, and those seed besda are hard to work with on a good day! LOL
I started getting back to beading a year ago, but I’ve never taken lessons, it’s just something to do. So I haven’t learned all the techniques and rules. I finally got somebooks from my Grandmother who has never even made anything! So I’m teaching myself to do it properly. But it takes the fun out of it. Rules. I hate rules…..LOL
But if you saw the jewelry at the other site I belong to, you’d understand. I won’t even put photo’s of my stuff in the forum. These people are pro’s and their work puts mine to shame!!!
You’ve some lovely work here. I think you are better than you give yourself credit for! I particularly like the “wire and chain” jewelry; the designs with chain maile-like links are particularly appealing. I started playing with beads years ago and sold my first pieces when I was about 10 to neighbors. I now do several local art shows each year and have a website, but its still done mostly for my own enjoyment. If you’re interested, take a look at my site and let me know what you think: http://www.chameleonsoul.com/jewelry
Peace,
Sarah
Thank you, Sarah! I will admit I am getting better with time. Everyone says that to me, but sometimes we are our own worst critic. I’m not where I want to be. That will come with experience. I’ll get there though…even if it takes a few more years.
I appreciate you dropping by and will be over to see your site!
Wortman – I don’t sell them. I’m usually physically drained when I get home from work, but I still have to keep doing something or I’d go stir crazy. So I picked up this hobby. I like to learn new things. I’ll try to find out how to translate your site this week so I can read your blog.
I can’t believe you aren’t selling some of these – at least seasonally – like the pretty ornaments. What do you do with them all? Boy I’m nosy! I had to come and return the blog visit! You do such nice work! You don’t have to be a pro to make a little money off a hobby and you shouldn’t compare yourself to others that you think are “pros” or better than you. Obviously there is interest here in people wanting to buy YOUR creations and you don’t have to do commission work or special orders either, just sell the things you’ve already made and don’t have room for. I am with you about the rules though – I don’t like ‘em myself.
LOL, Teeni. One day I will sell them. I’ve had many people interested in my ornament covers. A store as well. But right now I want to have one for every ball on my tree. When that is done (or IF) , I will consider selling some. I do give them as gifts, jewelry as well.
I like the idea of making it and selling it, rather than orders. I just don’t want to take the fun and enjoyment out of creating them. I just know if that happened, I would stop doing it.
Thank you so much for the compliments, I really appreciate the feedback I get about my beading. It makes me want to do more.
Thanks, Katerinka. I like that one too. It is not my design. My Grandmother had a book with it in it and I never thought to write it down at the time. I am still trying to find it.
It really looks nice on and was much easier than it looks to make!

Thank you Podcast Junky. I’m just learning so it’s pretty nice to get compliments
As for the eyesight: I have a huge magnifying glass with a light. I thank whoever invented that thing everytime I go to thread a needle!

The sixth wire necklace is very nice, simple, but unusual!! Great!! Just breathtaking!!
Thanks, Katerinka. I like that one too. It is not my design. My Grandmother had a book with it in it and I never thought to write it down at the time. I am still trying to find it.
